MOOCOW coffee @ HellRunner™ 2008

MOOCOW has teamed up with TrailPlus to support the HellRunner event on Sunday 2 November 2008 at Delamere Forest in Cheshire.
The 2008 Puma HellRunner Series

A FEW WILL COME TO RUN….MOST WILL COME TO SURVIVE

“Muddy and Magnificent”
“The most fun you can have with your clothes on!”
“Just one big day of fun, fun, fun.”

Puma HellRunner™ offers trail running at its toughest and most enjoyable.

10 -12 miles of challenging off-road running... tough, twisting trails... including the famed Hills of Hell and the Bog of Doom!

The Finish will bring redemption... but only to successful HellRunners.

TrailPlus creates and manages events and activities for people into running and adventure and, as you would imagine with their name, TrailPlus like to get their customers off-road.

As well as providing bespoke adventure challenges for a number of corporate clients, they are perhaps best known for organising the Helly Hansen Adventure Challenge Series, now established as the largest of its’ kind in the UK and the ‘devilish’ adventure running event known as The HellRunner.

Delivering a memorable running experience to the HellRunners is a key challenge for TrailPlus Managing Director, Paul Magner. But, as he explains, it was the challenge of providing a total event experience that was the key when MOOCOW came into view! Paul takes up the story.

“The growing popularity of HellRunner requires us to provide a total event-day experience and ambience. From a personal point of view, I find it very frustrating to go to events with only greasy and tasteless food available and, inevitably, overpriced drinks that taste no better than hot coloured water.

HellRunner is all about combining an authentic, yet unique, off-road running experience that combines smiles on the faces if not a little sweat and mud on the brow. The tone of HellRunner is quirky, irreverent and humorous, so when I was approached by MOOCOW I was immediately attracted by two things.

Firstly, having left the corporate world to set up TrailPlus six years ago, I could really empathise with Mikee’s and Sean’s vision for MOOCOW….and then I just had to smile when I saw the iconic MOOCOW character and design!

“This looks like fun” was my immediate reaction and I just knew that the people responsible for MOOCOW were just like HellRunner: quirky, irreverent and humorous.

Of course, there is one other important element that both our respective businesses have a commitment to and that’s professionalism. Being different is good in business, being different and good, is best for business.”

Paul was also impressed by MOOCOW’s artistic talent demonstrated in the proposal sent to him to support the MOOCOW coffee enquiry.

Paul wanted to develop a HellRunner iconic character (obviously with devilish undertones...or even overtones!) that could add some humour and personality to the design of the event t-shirt, along side running a competition for witty, irreverent phrases/captions for the t-shirts. He therefore approached MOOCOW art for some ideas.

Mikee, the artist behind MOOCOW sketched a number of characters before Paul chose one he liked which was then developed into the final t-shirt logo.

Here’s some of the prototypes!! Watch out for the unveiling of the finished article!

Paul adds:

“With what we have in store for 1500 HellRunners taking part in our Hell Up North event this November, I think it is only fair that they can treat themselves to a MOOCOW drink!”

It’s amazing what you’ll discover when you get off the beaten track. HellRunners will find this out for themselves this November and Paul is equally confident that MOOCOW will prove to be a great discovery for TrailPlus.

We’ll all drink to that!
